Our Design Philosophy Part Two - Durability

Our Design Philosophy Part Two - Durability

Thanks for checking back in with us for the second blog post on our design philosophy. For part one on practicality click here and for our Patina Tuesday post on our Pititi Peach leather here.

Next on the list is durability!

Questions we constantly ask ourselves when designing our products are:

  • Will our products last?
  • Will they be able to withstand all manner of conditions and climates?
  • Will our customers be able to hand them down to their kids?
  • How do we design our products to ensure all of the above is possible?

The first aspect of durability we take into account is the materials. Our veg tanned leather is tough and robust and water resistant. All exterior hardware used on our bags are composed of high quality zinc and iron. Our inner lining is soft but also durable.

The second aspect is stitching and manufacturing. Every single design choice for our products has to ensure the product is and will remain durable, from the shoulder straps to the laptop divider to the front strap and buckle. We also put special emphasis on the quality of stitching and manufacturing to ensure our products will last. This means no lose stitching, consistent and strong stitching, and even spacing (feel free to check out the stitching on your own bag or wallet).

Lastly, quality control. Our bags have been tested (literally) all around the world in all manner of conditions. Hot, humid conditions, freezing temperatures with snow, as hand luggage, on hikes, etc. They were beaten and roughed up but withstood all the punishment with ease. All our bags are rigorously checked for quality control when made and then again before we send them to you.

We hope that each of our customers will appreciate the durability of our products!
