Welcome to our second Patina Tuesday post. This time we're looking at our beautiful, ethically made Mutsu Tan leather. For our previous Patina Tuesday post on our Pititi Peach leather click here.
On the left we have one of our Mainichi bags that is 1 year and 10 months old. As with our Anh Pititi Peach bag in our previous post, this has been used in all manner of conditions - hot, sunny and humid South American climates, snowy, ice cold Canadian temperatures, and milder, moderate climates. On the right is a brand new Mainichi bag to compare to.
As you would expect, the Mutsu Tan has darkened over time, to an orangeish colour. Interestingly, the colour and hue has become more uniform compared to the brand new Mainichi bag. This is different to the Pititi Peach, which developed different textures and tones as it aged. The Mutsu Tan has aged beautifully over time.

We can see the contrast in hue between the two bags and the uniformity of the older Mainichi compared to the new Mainichi.
The leather has softened over time compared to the new Mutsu Tan Mainichi, but not as much as the Pititi Peach. There is still a little rigidity in the feel compared to the Pititi Peach, which may disappear as the bag is used more.
Comparing both our Pititi Peach and Mutsu Tan leathers to each other as well as with new bags has brought some interesting findings! What is the same with both however is that they have aged beautifully but in different ways.
